"We are forgiving. We are always inviting, we are peace-loving!!"
Heard this before? Yes, I have heard it too. But, the point here is I have heard it, I never 'said' it. Did you say it?
Then who is this "WE"? And who is the person saying of behalf of you and me?? With all due respect to the "cultural ambassadors" of our nation, isnt the title a self-explanatory one? Cultural Ambassadors... not peace-makers, judge to forgive, or a national declared "host" to invite any outsider.
I wonder why they never raise a voice over the fact that a terrorist is still alive after a year of trial? Or will they ever raise any, if another airplane with innocent people is hijacked and this terrorist released in ransom...
And now a TWIST in all this mess, a political party demands apology from our cultural ambassador... Yes!! The apology should come. The aim is right, but the PATH to achieve this aim, is that right too?
The apology should come. But to our nation, to our martyrs, to the innocent victims of terrorism, NOT to any political party or leader!!
Alongwith should come a pledge from each and every, that they are "representatives" belonging to various fraternities, not the "monarchs" of our nation!!

A crime in a broad sense is an act that violates a political or moral law. In the narrow sense, a crime is a violation of the criminal law. There can be certain acts of crime which are not necessarily punishable by law too like crimes of the heart. It could be considered to be a behavior that breaks the criminal law and is liable to public prosecution and punishment. A crime free society provides all the elements required for growth and prosperity.

ReplyDeleteThe only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.
ReplyDeleteDear SK-Bandra,
ReplyDeleteVery well said!! Not every crime is punishable by law, and certainly not a moral mistake... terming it "crime" would be too harsh.
Moral mistake is a very relative and sensitive term. What is right for you may not be for others.
And voicing our opinions is a right that every Indian is born with. But alongwith this "right" also comes a "duty/responsibility" towards our nation.
When we realise that the importance of this responsibility is far more than our "right", it will help us evolute. And evolution of every individual is the evolution, growth and prosperity of the nation they belong too!!

Dear Payal : “Crime takes a moment but justice an eternity” The punishment of criminals should be of use when a man is hanged he is good for nothing. Society prepares the crime, the criminal commits it.The greatest crimes do not arise from a want of feeling for others but from an over-sensibility for ourselves and an over-indulgence to our own desires. He who profits by a crime commits it and obviously above all crime pays or else there would be no crime.
